Vintage Rolex GMT-Master 1675
This GMT-Master 1675 was released by Rolex in 1963 and comes equipped with a faded red and blue 40mm bezel. It is often referred to as the Pepsi Rolex since the red and blue colors of the bezel bear a striking resemblance to the logo of the popular beverage during the same era.
The stainless steel Oyster case of this vintage GMT also boasts pointed crown guards, fondly named “El Cornino” by Rolex aficionados for its horn-like look. The pointed crown guards were only produced from 1959 until the mid-60s, making this design element very rare, thereby sought after by fans of key vintage Rolex pieces. Powered by an automatic movement, Caliber 1565, with GMT function – a very practical feature favored by pilots and globetrotters to keep track of several time zones – and instantaneous date, this more than 50-year-old GMT-Master continues to run at COSC specifications. The dial, date wheel and bezel insert have been replaced during prior servicing. This particular model sports an older 7206 rivet Oyster bracelet with 58 end pieces and 13 links in excellent vintage condition. The newer replacement hands blend harmoniously with the matte black dial with creamy yellow hour-markers and all are protected by acrylic crystal. The characteristic screw-down crown makes the watch waterproof to 165 feet. Part of the Rolex catalogue for an incredible 21 years, the 1675 is a true collectable and any serious collector of vintage Rolex watches would consider this timepiece as an integral part of their collection.
